Art Inspirations by Karen Longoria really began as my way to de-stress at every work meeting and tough phone call with doodles. It focused my mind and allowed me to absorb more in the meeting. Imagine that! Nothing but years of drawing lines and circles with a gel pen soon became trying different markers and drawing abstract images while on an airplane for travel. At home my heart went to playing with paint solely based on getting stronger color and texture into my art. I started to track artists of different styles through social  media. Then I just dove into it with an open mind and an open heart (key!!), allowing myself to make mistakes and lose control with each painting, 

I was CAPTURED. 

I began experimenting with different styles of abstract painting and fell in love with the art of Acrylic Paint Pouring and Palette Knife Painting. Acrylic paint is my favorite medium to work with. I love the chemistry of blending colors to make new ones as well as how they mix when pouring together, and it has mesmerized me ever since. It has challenged my natural tendency of control to let go and free myself to let things just happen on a canvas. Sometimes letting go is just a good thing. I've learned that we can't control everything in life, and sometimes you get something beautiful as a result. My art is unique, no two are alike. There are plenty of artists that do this type of technique, but you'll find that each artist leans toward colors and style that are slightly different. How the paint is mixed, the palette knife is angled, the viscosity of the paint, how the canvas is tilted, and even the varnish or sealing method makes each piece stand out differently. I am always working on a new painting, whether for sale, as a custom piece where I tailor the painting in color and style just for the wall where you would like it, or to hang up in my own home gallery.
